e. Fluorescence/Luminescence
Students explore basic aspects of luminescence spectroscopy including energy level diagrams and the processes of fluorescence and phosphorescence. Processes that result in fluorescence quenching are also covered. There is an associated text that explains the answers to the questions on the worksheet.
Students prepare solutions, record fluorescence spectra, and then perform a class-wide analysis of the results.
Students complete several calculations using fluorescent measurements.
